The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. ~Helen Keller
I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ryokan College, Los Angeles, CA, where I currently teach in the graduate program in psychology. I also hold a Masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, Orinda, CA.
My special interest is in transitional life phases and bereavement. My doctoral dissertation, Everything’s Different: Traumatic Bereavement as Initiation in Adolescence, is a case study that traces the process of post-traumatic healing and transformation in a high school girl I counseled who experienced a traumatic loss at age 16.
I have been counseling individuals and groups of all ages for over 20 years in various settings, both professionally and as a volunteer. I offer public speaking and trainings in Loss and Bereavement, Dream Work, Visioning and Goal-Setting, and Effective Communications.
Through my extensive volunteer work for Envision Schools, I have been deeply involved in the high school reform movement. I am passionate about the need for adolescents in our culture to have a joyful experience of true education that will prepare them to enter into full adulthood in the 21st century.
